Playing Out

Since the 12th April 2021, residents in Wolverhampton have been able to apply for a temporary street closure for Playing Out activities.

Playing Out – make your street a place to play!

WE is supporting Playing Out’s Summer Of Play 2021.

Play streets are back! Following the past year, what better way to bring neighbours back together and give children a wonderful, play-filled summer to remember?

Playing Out is a movement established by two parents in Bristol who were concerned about the lack of freedom that their children had to play safely with their friends close to home. They developed a model where a street could be closed to traffic for a couple of hours so that children could simply play, supporting their health, happiness and wellbeing.

The #SummerOfPlay campaign launched this week, supported by Save the Children and others. Find out more here.

If you’d be interested in running Playing Out on your street but you’re not quite sure where to start, please get in touch with us at Wolverhampton for Everyone. We can talk you through the process in more detail and, if you need it, we can support you to organise your own event (we can also help with things like hosting Zoom meetings, visiting your street to discuss your idea & more).
